"Empress Dowager Cixi's Porcelain" is the general term to describe the porcelains that produced in the Cixi's Age. We can also call it "Cixi's porcelains", Cixi's porcelains includes two meanings: the broad sense and narrow sense. For the broad sense, it refers that in the time of empress Cixi's tenure, the royal Kiln factory of Jingde town made all kinds of palace porcelains according to the requirements of imperial order. With respect to the narrow sense, it indicates that the royal kiln factory of Jingde town exclusively produced the daily porcelains for empress of Cixi. No matter it is the broad sense or the narrow sense, "Cixi's Porcelains" refer to the porcelains for palace and it just contains the official porcelains made by the royal kiln factory. However, the civilian ones are not included.
In march, 2013, the Beijing Imperial Palace Museum and Capital Museum jointly launched the special exhibition of "The Precious Collections in the Imperial Palace: the Empress Dowager Cixi's Porcewlains". Through these porcelains that were used by Cixi in the past time, maybe we can have a different understanding of Cixi.
